To welcome adults and children with no martial arts experience as well as the experienced martial artists to cross train with us and add valuable skills to their continued learning.
We want all of our students to develop good citizenship, to be productive members of society, have discipline in their thinking and actions, to develop respect for other people and their ideas and to understand that it takes hard work and dedication to achieve your goals. We, at PowerSource, are always humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We believe that all of this is more important than being a World or Olympic Champion. PowerSource Martial Arts is more than a school, it is a place intended to create friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime.
We are in the process of building a strong competition team for Judo, BJJ, MMA and NAGA for National and International tournaments (For the ones who wish to compete).
My Experience & Background:
Sensei Campos was born in a South Suburban city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 05/22/1965. Soon after his birth, his family moved to a city called Santo Andre located in the state of Sao Paulo. At the age of eight, in 1973, a Japanese immigrant named Kameo Otagaki introduced Andre to Kodokan judo. Sensei Kameo was the judo instructor in one of the biggest sport complexes in Sao Paulo state.

In his teenage years, Andre was coached by Luiz Carlos Novi, who later would be responsible for the largest judo team in the country under Pirelli Corporation sponsorship. With their help Andre and his teammates garnered many National and International Championships.
In 1983 Andre moved back to Rio de Janeiro and restarted his training at Gama Filho University and Clube De Regatas Flamengo. There were many Brazilian Jiujitsu students training at these dojos to master the standing fighting techniques. Andre on the other hand, who had spent most of his time on Judo's standing techniques, soon realized the need for spending more time developing the ground submission techniques associated with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (This is the basic difference between the two arts). So, Andre, like many judokas in Brazil, continued cross-training in Brazilian Jiujitsu, as well as, Vale Tudo (anything goes). Andre received his black belt in judo in 1987.
In 1992, Andre moved to Chicago and in 1995 he started teaching Judo, Jujitsu and vale tudo at Yoon’s martial arts in Hickory Hills, IL. In 1996 he continued his teachings at 21st Century Martial arts in Orland Park, IL.
In 1997 Andre went to California to train with Rickson Gracie where he became one of Rickson’s representative in the Chicago area. Although Andre never pursued his BJJ career he never stopped cross training with various professional fighters.
From 2000 until 2009 Andre taught at South Suburban Judo. And in 2008 Andre started teaching a self defense program and kids safety awareness for the "All American Young Activities of Illinois" (AAYA) at the Jewish Community Center in Flossmoor, IL.
Andre currently holds the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt certified by USA Judo and is a Certified National Judo Coach under the same orginization.

In late 2009 Andre opened Powersource Martial Arts in it's current location in downtown Homewood, IL and in 2010 Andre restarted his training in BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) under Carlson Gracie Jr. and Daniel Wanderley. Since that time Andre has now been promoted to the rank of purple belt (in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) by Carlson Gracie Jr. in 2011.

Thanks for your Time! And come and check us out!
